[Redwood] [Dry Lumber] [Fencing] [Decking] [Pressure Treated] [Landscaping] [Doug Fir]
What grade should you use for your project? Check out this Grade and Usage Brochure from the California Redwood Association. It is decay-resistant in all heartwood grades, so heartwood can be used near the ground. Redwood is more insect repellent in all-heartwood grades than other softwoods, yet it is lightweight. It is known for its easy maintenance and beautiful color: a deep reddish brown that darkens with age. Redwood is most often used for applications where high moisture levels are a problem for other types of wood. No other softwood has the rich beauty or long-lasting performance of redwood. Redwood is a favorite with builders because it is lightweight but strong. It is easy to saw, nail and drill. Redwood has little or no messy pitch or resins. No other softwood holds paints, stains and other coatings better than redwood. Redwood also bonds exceptionally well.
DRY LUMBER In the Kiln Drying process, lumber becomes more receptive to the use of glues, fasteners, and bonding agents. Moreover, kiln dried lumber is stronger (over 2x) and stiffer (nearly 2x) than green lumber.
REDWOOD FENCING Here at Berco Redwood, we produce a large part of our own fencing products. We offer premium grade--which has become an industry standard-- and a superior grade that is primarily knot and defect free. We produce these products on-site at our facility, as well as purchasing large quanities from quality lumber mill companies that don't compromise with quality and whose products match our own standards.
REDWOOD DECKING Redwood is a classic for decks because it is great looking, resists weathering and is easy to saw and use. The heartwood grades naturally resist insects and decay. Redwood has no chemical additives and resists warping and splitting better than other woods. 2x6 Construction Common PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER REDWOOD LANDSCAPING AND CONCRETE FORMING SUPPLIES 3/16x3 through 1x3 Redwood Bender board Redwood stakes DOUGLAS FIR LUMBER: Douglas Fir as the standard against which all other framing lumber is judged. It is also tight knotted and close-grained, adding the bonus of beauty to its structural capabilities and is noted as the best in structural lumber. Ideal for structural and general purpose construction in residential, light commercial, multi story and industrial construction. For painted outdoor structures, such as Patio Covers and Arbors, Doug Fir is the best choice...leave the unfinished projects for Redwood.
